YAHTZEE Rules
A clean play guide for the standard five-dice game.
Goal
Finish all 13 score categories with the highest grand total. Each player takes up to three rolls on a turn and may keep any dice between rolls. At the end of the turn, score exactly one unused category—even if the score is 0.
Upper section
For Aces through Sixes, total only dice showing that number. Score a 35-point bonus when the six upper categories total at least 63.
Lower section
| Category | Score |
|---|---|
| Three of a Kind | All five dice, with at least three alike |
| Four of a Kind | All five dice, with at least four alike |
| Full House | 25 points for a pair plus three alike |
| Small Straight | 30 points for four consecutive numbers |
| Large Straight | 40 points for five consecutive numbers |
| YAHTZEE | 50 points for five alike |
| Chance | Total all five dice |
Additional YAHTZEES
If the YAHTZEE box already contains 50, each additional YAHTZEE earns a 100-point bonus. Also score the turn in another category under the official Joker rules: use the matching upper category if it is open; otherwise use an open lower category; if the lower section is full, use an open upper category.
Using this scorekeeper: choose the category, enter its score, and check the 100-point bonus option when applicable. Enter 0 to scratch a category.
Rules condensed from the official Hasbro YAHTZEE instructions.
